Summer Sugar Cookies

I just love all these pretty colors that come out with this wonderful recipe! I originally found a pin on pinterest about "Jello" cookies. The lady used many jello powders to create a bunch of little sugar cookies in beautiful colors. I decided to run with this idea a little bit and create my own fun colored cookies!

1 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tbs. orange zest
2 tbs. fresh squeezed orange juice
1 tbs. strawberry jello packet
yellow, red, orange, blue, green food coloring
~Yields 6 dozen

Directions:Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla, almond extract. Combine all dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Pour dry ingredients into wet ingreddients and begin mixing around! Separate dough into 3 bowls.
In one put orange zest, juice and red and yellow food coloring to make it ORANGE!
In another bowl add blue and green food coloring for a "teal" color.
In the third bowl add strawberry jello powder and red food coloring until you reach a desired "pink" color!
Scoop 1 tbs. scooping of each color and roll into a ball, flatten slightly. Line a cookie sheet and place in freezer overnight.
Then next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for about 8-10 minutes. Make sure to leave 2 in. apart between cookies cause they will spread and crack slightly!  Let them cool for about 15 minutes.
