Homemade Pasta Sauce

Mmmm.... always gotta have homemade pasta sauce!!!

1 can (28 oz.) crushed tomatoes
1 bunch of sweet basil (9-12 leaves)
1 tbs. dried oregano
2 tsp. cracked black pepper
1 tsp. crushed pepper flakes
5 cloves garlic
1 whole white onion
1 tbs. olive oil

Directions: Chop up onion and garlic very fine and saute until lightly brown in olive oil. Pour entire crushed can and combine oregano, black pepper, pepper flakes and bring to a light boil. Toss in basil and simmer for 15-20 min.  ~ENJOY!

  1. You make your own pasta sauce??? NO WAY!

  2. It makes about the same amount or a little more as your typical jarred sauce. I've been doing this for years. Rachael Ray has several variations of this basic sauce that are fun to play with. Takes almost no time at all!

  3. Have you tried canning or freezing this?

  4. This was delicious! I added a pound of ground beef and a large can of diced tomatoes (drained). I might never eat canned sauce again!
